Statically, if every cancer patient was more like you Mr. Murtagh, the amount of success stories would be no doubt higher. You're just about the only person I know who would see something so detrimental to his health as "Too Cool" (of course with a big mustache smile). Your lvl 20 barbarian like persistence is inspiring. I'm looking forward to three months from now when hopefully your in the clear.

People like you are a blessing despite the circumstances. Treatments, diagnoses, or outcomes only cause short-term bumps in life's road.

Wish I had seen the post about your Disney. We've been there many times over the years and would have had some good advice. I hope you and Sal had a magical time.

From a friend of mine who goes to Disney often:

Hey Matt
>
> I know that if your cousin calls Disney and explains his situation
> they will ensure that he is able to do most of everything he would
> like.
>
> I am assuming this is the first visit to Disney ? Not sure how old the
> kids are, but here are some of my recommendations.
>
> *	Character breakfast - If the children are girls would definitely
> do breakfast in Cinderella's castle. If they have boys I would
> consider a breakfast in one of the hotels.
> *	Mickey's backyard barbecue - I now Tony has done this. I think
> that is where he learned to line dance. :)
> *	Hoopie Doo review is a fun time
> *	Dinner at the Wilderness Lodge. It is an all you can eat
> barbecue style, lot's of fun and the waiters and waitress's entertain
> during dinner.
> *	Night Fireworks at the Magic Kingdom I would rate first and then
> Epcot second.
> *	Boardwalk at night. Lot's of entertainment going on and a neat
> place to hang out. You can even see the fireworks from Epcot.
>
> I will keep thinking of other things.

My husband has suffered from ACUTE IBHS for decades. I've found the key to managing his condition is to remember he got this way because of his great need to be in absolute control of everything, every day, in every way, always. Allowing him to believe he IS in control keeps him in remission (:

Hey Rick,

A belated Happy Birthday to you and I'm glad that you're done chemo and I'll pray for a reversal of the side effects. Why are side effects never something good like more toned muscles, perfect pitch, or a photographic memory?

As for what I want to be when I grow up (I just turned 47 and 50 doesn't seem all that old now)...I want to be a barista at Starbucks or a bartender at a wine/martini bar. If I pick the latter I'll serve you when you stumble into the joint.

The Tapestry of Nations from Disney World's Epcot is really cool if you can find it. The beginning part is the sound of clocks ticking and someone speaking but once it gets going it is catchy from a tribal perspective.

See, I'd pay to get you to wear a loin cloth or kilt. :)

I think you should become a writer when you grow up. You and Sally should travel the world and write about your adventures. I am sure you would have us all in stitches. If you haven’t read any of Bill Bryson books you should your humor on life is similar.

We are finalizing our summer plans and It looks like we are going to the Jersey shore this July instead of Hawaii (wouldn’t that be your second choice!). So if you are up to it, the Petrone’s along with Toodie will be stopping in for a visit.

Happy birthday Rick and many many many more!!

Hi Rick, I found you on facebook. Thanks for being my friend. I get so excited when someone accepts me! (I don't handle rejection well).

Glad to hear the chemo has come to it's conclusion. I've prayed you along. Well, I won't spew scripture at you (Christians who feel like crap don't need other Christians preaching to the choir!) I'll just wish you a happy birthday and advise you to do something to make yourself smile once before you go to sleep tonight. Love and prayers to you and yours.
